2020 is almost over and it's high time to imagine what can expect us in the next 2021. So, it is obvious that 2021 will be a real testing ground for next-generation consoles, presenting every opportunity to experience the full power of the PS5 and Xbox Series X/S. Below we presented our vision of what 2021 will look like for the gaming industry - of course, these predictions are not accurate. However, you'd better imagine what to expect from next year.
Long-awaited release of...
One of the most anticipated games of 2021 is Halo Infinite, which has been in production for over two years now. Initially, the release was scheduled for this year, but due to the pandemic, plans have been delayed. The latest news from 343 Industries makes it clear that the developers are not wasting this time - a recent teaser has confirmed this idea, showing the great graphics and multiplayer interface that is the main feature of the Halo series.
Nintendo Anniversary and Possible Release of the Legendary Mother 3 on Nintendo Switch
Many of us have been anticipating the release of Mother 3 - RPG on Nintendo Switch for more than four years now, but in 2021 there is every reason that expectations will finally come true. First, many Japanese companies follow this principle when releasing their bestsellers on modern platforms. Secondly, in 2020, Nintendo was already reminiscing about its classic games, releasing Super Mario 3D All-Stars and Fire Emblem on new consoles in time for the anniversaries of Super Mario 3D All-Stars and Fire Emblem on new consoles - in 2021, this anniversary are coming for Mother 3. Of course, this may sound like a dream many players, but we all strongly believe that Nintendo will do this, making many "veterans" of the gaming industry happy. Of course, for this company it will be good to try, as somewhat outdated today - however, it's worth it!
Porting Persona 3 to modern platforms
Yes, this may be another dream that will never see the realization, but there is some reason that Atlus will bring Persona 3 to modern platforms.
Thanks to the modern releases of the Persona franchise, its popularity is now at its peak. However, that the third part - today it is available only on the first version of PS, which does not make it widely popular among gamers. This is certainly not deserved, as the Persona 3 characters were not forgotten and are widely used in some of the franchise's series today. Waiting for Persona 6 may seem a little too tedious, so to please fans, Atlus might well be thinking of a Persona 3 solution.
More interesting details about Mass Effect
At The Game Awards we saw a teaser for the new Mass Effect, which intrigued all fans incredibly. Of course, the game probably won't be out in 2021 - however, we're looking forward to more details on the game.
So, there is reason that the new part will be associated with Andromeda - for example, one of the inscriptions in the teaser contains information about the departure of the ship "Ark" number 6 - these are the ships used to travel to Andromeda. In addition, it became known that the events of the new part are associated with the entire Mass Effect franchise. All this information suggests that in 2021 we will hear more information about the new Mass Effect - and we look forward to it.
Remake of Metal Gear Solid
Konami's iconic franchise is currently languishing in dusty vaults of intellectual property and its remake will truly bring attention to the PlayStation. At one time, Metal Gear Solid made a real revolution on the PlayStation, so Sony may be definitely interested in its remake. Plus, you don't have to spend huge sums on a new part if you can just make a remake of the legend.
In addition, do not forget about the public conflict between the Konami studio and Hideo Kojima, which upset many fans, and when the terrible Metal Gear Survive came out after that, the fans were just furious. So what else can restore the Konami name but a remake of a great game?
Another anniversary for Nintendo
2021 marks the 35th anniversary of one of the most popular Nintendo franchises, Zelda, and most likely the company celebrated this event on a grand scale. While it is difficult to say what exactly it will be, the celebration will definitely be no less than that of Super Mario.
So, the anniversary will also be a great occasion to finally unveil the Wii U HD remasters of Wind Waker and Twilight Princess. Also, given the new items and features in Animal Crossing for Super Mario's anniversary, Zelda expects at least the same - If not even more new products. All fans are eagerly awaiting the new addition, Breath of the Wild, however, it is more reasonable to expect it already in 2022, since due to the pandemic, the development of the addition has slightly slowed down.
Final Fantasy XIV is finally coming to Xbox
The hugely successful Final Fantasy XIV is now available on Microsoft Windows and PlayStation, with more than 15 million players on those platforms. However, considering all the other Final Fantasy titles available on the Xbox, the lack of this one seems like a bit of a misunderstanding. According to the director of Final Fantasy, the absence of Final Fantasy XIV on Xbox is "temporary difficulties" and he certainly wants as many people around the world as possible to play in his brainchild. Negotiations with Microsoft seem to be ongoing - even Phil Spencer talked about it in 2019.
The main unresolved issue remains the issue of subscriptions - it is not yet known how the own subscription in MMORPG will work in conjunction with the Xbox subscription. Of course, while we can enjoy the free version of the game, which is missing some important features - however, this does not solve the problem with the Xbox. We hope that a lot will become clear in 2021.
Development of the new Stadia service
Stadia is a Google streaming service that has been around for over a year, but still struggling to find its niche. And the problem is not even in the technical characteristics, but in the prices for the service itself. For example, in order to use Stadia both on a computer and on a TV, you will have to purchase an additional set of services, which is not so cheap. As for the subscription service, it is completely inconvenient, as it provides access to only a few games - for the rest you will have to pay full price.
As a solution to this problem, Stadia could simply reduce prices and expand the library of games to keep gamers interested in their product. In our opinion, the key to success here lies precisely in the price, since many will be interested in giving away for games not as much as now. It is not yet known whether Google will take this step, but in 2021 they will definitely have to come up with something if they want to stay afloat.
New from Nintendo
Of course, the company continues to work on a new model for its super-successful Switch and we can predict that in 2021 we will see the result of this work. Numerous media outlets predict that a new version of Switch will be released next year, so it certainly won't come as a surprise.
As for Nintendo, the company has repeatedly denied the news about the imminent release of the console, although this is a fairly well-known strategy for them - first to deny, and then, a few months later, to report the new product. This was the case with Switch Lite, when at first the developers rejected all rumors - and then just released a "light" version of the Switch. In addition, 2021 will be a good date, since Sony and Microsoft have already released their new products, and after studying them, Nintendo will be able to prepare a decent answer.
