At the end of last year, it became known that Microsoft was planning to buy ZeniMax, Bethesda's parent company. It was announced that the deal would be "difficult", but the companies expected to close it in early 2021. Recently, the European Antimonopoly Commission announced that it received the relevant documents from Microsoft - now they are under consideration by lawyers.
According to the commission's website, the final decision will be made in early spring - March 5th. The deal can be either fully approved or rejected - in the case of the second option, the commission will be forced to initiate a full investigation of Microsoft's actions. Recall that the acquisition of ZeniMax will mean increased competition with Sony and Nintendo, as the purchase will significantly improve the position of Xbox. So, among the possible acquisitions of Microsoft are such franchises as: The Elder Scrolls, Fallout, Doom, Dishonored and many others.
