How Wikipedia fans help developers

Wikipedia
It turns out that the developers also turn to the fan pages of Wikipedia, which are created by fans of certain universes.

Fan Wikipedia pages created by game fans are a great source of tips if you don't know how to complete a quest or where to find an artifact. It turned out that the developers are turning to them too!

"If you knew how often developers refer to fan wikis, you'd be surprised", Tim Schafer tweeted, creator of Broken Age, Full Throttle, Brütal Legend, Psychonauts, Grim Fandango and many other high profile projects. The tweet was picked up by Schafer's colleagues in the shop, sharing their own experience of such "appeals".

"There would be no Dishonored 2 without a fan-made Wikipedia," wrote one of the developers. A colleague at TTGames noted that game authors often refer to Wikipedia when preparing for presentations. As for gamers, opinions were divided: some wrote that developers should take responsibility for what is written on fan Wiki, since such articles can be edited by anyone. The majority agreed that such a high assessment of the fan work from the developers is a good gesture and such practices should continue.
